
| Day by day our bodies dance with two unforgiving partners, gravity and age. And yet both time and the struggle to find balance can be our allies. Joseph Pilates developed a systematic approach to exercise and practice that yields dramatic results towards health and rejuvenation. Core strength, the powerhouse, the abdominals, all names for the central place in our body from which balance, stability, alignment, flexibility and grace can be found and developed. One awakens a kind of inner intelligence, an ability to see and sense, internalize and grow a relationship with our bodies and movement that relieves stresses and strains, helps prevent injury, and gives hope for a sustainable future. Joseph Pilates greatest gift to us - in my opinion of course - is the mat work. When learned correctly It can be done virtually anywhere, without the aid of studio apparati or the presence of an instructor. It is my objective to train clients to work independently, using personalized recordings made during the sessions to facilitate home practice. |
